Met Gala Names Its 2016 Theme and Co-Chairs

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced on Tuesday, Oct. 13, that the theme for the Met Gala 2016 is all about the future. According to Vogue, the gala will be themed Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology and the star-studded NYC event will take place on May 2, 2016.

The Costume Institute’s annual exhibit (which is kicked off by the gala) will “focus on the dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion,” Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute, told Vogue.
Taylor Swift, as well as Idris Elba, have been announced as co-chairs, along with Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Apple’s chief design officer Jonathan Ive, and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and Miuccia Prada.
