T.I. Explains Why He Can’t Support Hillary Clinton for President, Then Apologizes

T.I. tells DJ Whoo Kid that the Loch Ness Monster has a better chance getting elected president of the United States than a woman.

T.I. and Pharrell might be longtime friends and music collaborators, but they don’t share all the same political views. During the same week Pharrell revealed his endorsement of Hillary Clinton’s bid for president in 2016, T.I. explained why he could not support the former U.S. Secretary of State.

T.I. listed multiple reasons for his decision, none of which made reference to Clinton’s work history. Instead, his rationale was based on her gender.

“Not to be sexist, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” he said in a recent interview on DJ Whoo Kid’s “The Whoolywood Shuffle” SiriusXM show on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel. “Just because every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But, the president … it’s kinda like … I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally and later they make very permanent, like cemented decisions and then later it’s kinda like it didn’t happen or they didn’t mean for it to happen and I would sure hate to get off a nuke …”

T.I. added that he didn’t think other world leaders would embrace a female president. “Ain’t gon’ be able to negotiate foreign policy,” he said. “The world ain’t ready. I think you might be able to get the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could … It’s not right.”

On Tuesday, T.I. apologized for his comments in a Twitter post:

The rap star, who just released his album Da’ Nic, also said he could not endorse Donald Trump either, though he is impressed with the tycoon’s business savvy. “He’s interesting,” Tip said about Trump. “I feel he’s the best showman of them all.”

But Tip admitted that Trump’s controversial statements about race concern him. “His racist remarks and all of his off color statements and all that s— makes it impossible to be in complete support of him. But just knowing what he’s done for business for himself, if he intends to do that for America, I think it would be beneficial. But I can’t cash no vote for him.”
