We’re a little over a year and a half away from seeing the continuing
adventures of Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2—and now, casting has begun on the sequel.
First the good news. The Hollywood Reporter says that actress Pom Klementieff, pictured below, has joined the film in a mystery role. All we know is it’s a “key” role and Klementieff beat out a number of other Asian actresses after chemistry tests with other members of the cast. (Our own James Whitbrook wants her to be playing Phyla Vell, which is one possibility considering we have no idea which Marvel characters Gunn has added.) Klementieff recently appeared in Spike Lee’s Oldboy.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5, 2017. We’re going to be hearing lots more soon.
